I have provided assignments that I would like students to work on while at home. I have attached fantastic websites where organizations have kindly shared their resources with the world. Libraries like Epic and Sora have granted access to their collections. Finally, I have included neat websites that your children can go on in order to be creative with their free time such as typing practice and Scratch.

SCIENCE (6-2) (6-3) *Design process project! Create 3 different types of paper airplanes. You will test each plane to see which one flies best. Create a controlled test by choosing where to throw from, where the goal landing is, and throwing from the same height. 1) First research different ways to create a paper airplane. 2) Record findings from research. 3) Build one paper airplane. Document how you built it. 4) Make a hypothesis. How do you think this plane will fly? 5)Perform your test. Remember to follow your controlled testing. Throw the airplane and see how it flies. 6) Record your results. What happened? Did it reach your landing goal? Please explain as best you can. 7) Repeat steps for the second and third plane. 8) With your results from each plane test, conclude which plane flew the best. ELA (6-2) *Audible Stories has provided access to a mini library of audiobooks! It must be Audible Stories in order to get free access without signing up and paying. They will be accessible as long as schools remain suspended, so check it out! I have already listened to "A Summer to Die" by Louis Lowry. *DAILY DOODLE VOCABULARY Booklet. Learn, think, write and colour with this booklet that was sent home with report cards. *Reading at least 20 minutes a day. SORA: Online Library Access
The school division now offers access to OverDrive, an eBook/Audiobook platform that provides students with an online library of eBooks. The easiest way to access your collection is with Sora. The Sora app is available through the Google Play and Apple App stores, as well as our LSSD App Catalog and can also be accessed on any device/browser at https://soraapp.com/library/manitobaconca. You will also have access to Classic OverDrive at http://manitobaconsortium.lib.overdrive.com. When signing into your collection your students will use their LSSD login credentials. Students can also access the OverDrive/Sora platform by logging into their Office365 online, and clicking on "All Apps". Scroll down to the blue OverDrive icon and click on that.
